| CAREER/TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTIONS
The Commission on Secondary Schools (CSS) is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a gatekeeper
accrediting agency for postsecondary, non-degree granting institutions that wish to establish eligibility to
administer financial aid through the Title IV, HEA programs. Most institutions that fall into that category
are Career and Technology (C/T) institutions, so CSS has a number of resources available specifically related
to C/T institutions.
Not all C/T institutions use CSS accreditation to establish eligibility, however. A chart
clarifies which of our C/T institutions are reported to the U.S. Department of Education for such purposes.
Regardless of their eligibility status with CSS, all C/T institutions are welcome to use the resources listed
below.
For those C/T institutions that will be using CSS accreditation to establish Title IV eligibility, we recommend that you
consult the CSS policies for regulations and procedures that apply specifically
to postsecondary institutions.
